Madrid Guide

This dream European summer has officially ended, and although I didn't want it to end, I'm coming back home with memories for a lifetime. I have been wanting to spend an extended period of time in Europe with my kids and family, we finally did it. We were based in Madrid and made some trips to Marbella, St. Tropez, Paris, and a few others. If you're heading to Madrid, you're definitely in for a treat. This city is truly a perfect place for family activities, date nights, walking, eating, shopping, and everything else. Whether you're planning a weekend getaway or a longer stay, here are some spots you absolutely have to try. From amazing food to kid-friendly activities, I've got you covered.

Where to Eat

Charrua Restaurant Madrid

C. del Conde de Xiquena, 4, Centro, 28004 Madrid, Spain

Such a gorgeous place, but be ready for some heavy food and smelling like food when you leave. But it's definitely worth it for a special night out.

El Paraguas

C. de Jorge Juan, 16, Salamanca, 28001 Madrid, Spain

This spot is a classic. Beautiful ambiance and good food.

Casa Lucio

C. de la Cava Baja, 35, Centro, 28005 Madrid, Spain

A Madrid staple but not fancy at all.

Chocolateria San Ginés

Pasadizo de San Ginés, 5, Centro, 28013 Madrid, Spain

Super famous for churros, but honestly, not worth the hype. If you’re craving churros, I’ve heard Valor is better, but didn’t get a chance to try it.

Filandon

Carr. de El Pardo a Fuencarral, Km. 1.9, Fuencarral-El Pardo, 28049 Madrid, Spain

Perfect for a weekend with or without kids. The setting is beautiful, but the service is not good at all . Also, pro tip, don’t sit outside if it’s hot.

Ten con Ten

Cl. de Ayala, 6, Salamanca, 28001 Madrid, Spain

Great food, but the crowd is on the younger side. Good for a night out.

AArde

Pl. de la Independencia, 10, Retiro, 28001 Madrid, Spain

Went there a lot for lunch, and dinner was nice too. A solid spot the terrace is beautiful when the weather is nice.

Los 33

Pl. de las Salesas, 9, Centro, 28004 Madrid, Spain

Amazing vibe and the food is fantastic. Definitely worth a visit.

Estimar

C. del Marqués de Cubas, 18, Centro, 28014 Madrid, Spain

I’m not big on seafood, but everyone else loved it. The place is beautiful, so it's worth a visit if you like seafood.

El Pescador

C. de José Ortega y Gasset, 75, Salamanca, 28006 Madrid, Spain

Another hit for the seafood lovers. My friends raved about it.

Quintin

C. de Jorge Juan, 17, Salamanca, 28001 Madrid, Spain

Great for lunch, but didn’t love it for dinner. Stick to the midday visit.

Numa Pompilio

C. de Velázquez, 18, Salamanca, 28001 Madrid, Spain

Fantastic Italian food. The tiramisu is a must-try!

Attractions and Activities

Madrid Snowzone

Located in the Intu Xanadú shopping and leisure center in Arroyomolinos. Indoor skiing with kids is super fun, but only go if you have extra time in the city. Not a priority if you’re on a short trip.

Wellness

Coqueta Nails

C. del Cardenal Cisneros, 59, bajo, Chamberí, 28010 Madrid, Spain

For the best gel and semi-permanent manicures, ask for Will. He’s amazing!

Weijia Wellness

C. del Corazón de María, 78, Chamartín, 28002 Madrid, Spain

Absolutely loved this spot for acupuncture. Highly recommend it!

Royal Touch

C. de Almagro, 26, Chamberí, 28001 Madrid, Spain

The best lymphatic massages ever! Tried both regular and wood massages, plus the facial. All were amazing. The staff is super nice, just make sure you're on time!
